site specific works of art for private and  public spaces

The first column was designed in the Spring of 2003.   Since then, I have created over thirty commissioned columns, private and corporate.  The columns are all one of a kind, site specific works of art.   By using conventional woodworking techniques, these pieces are made entirely out of wood.  Some are wall pieces others are free standing.  They are enhanced with 24K, silver and/or copper gilded embellishments.  I find this proven format to be a blank tapestry to carve the dreams, loves, aspirations or beliefs of the private collector or to create a work of art by interpreting a company’s philosophy for the corporate collection.

Working closely with the designer or art consultant, I will present a maquette and/ or drawing in story board form of the concept to start the process of refinement.  When the concept is honed, it is presented for approval at which time contracts are signed.  Then it is off to the studio to recreate the design in its medium to a site specific work of art.

The columns in the slideshow below were commissioned by a bank, a library, a university, an energy company, a hospice, a private collector, a couple starting their life together, and a healthcare facility.

New designs include programmable lighting and a variety of surface textures.

This format for sculpture can tell any story, a company's mission statement,  a promise through symbolism of a life together  as well as creating a place of solace in a healing environment.

I would be happy to talk to you about creating one especially for your vision.
